Mrs. Huff was born on February 22, 1922, to the late Fannie Jane and James Monroe Davis. Doris attended business college in Winston Salem after graduating from East Bend High School. During World War II, she worked in an airplane parts factory to assist in the war effort. Mrs. Huff was also employed by the Northwest Council of Government, where she enjoyed many years of service. Doris was a devoted member of the East Bend United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Burton (Buddy) Huff; and her two sisters, Nell Price Davis and Beulah Mae Land. Survivors include her two daughters, Charlene (CM) Worthy of Jamestown and Patricia (Chuck) Shelton of Winston Salem; brother, James M. Davis, Jr. (Myrtle) of Fairfax, VA; and two grandsons Ryan Heniford (Jennifer) of Philadelphia, PA and Charlie Shelton of Winston Salem. Al! so surviving are several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at East Bend United Methodist Church on Wednesday, December 8, 2010, at 3 p.m. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening at Huff Funeral Home in East Bend from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials maybe made to East Bend United Methodist Church, 224 Main Street, East Bend, NC 27018 or to Hospice and Palliative Care Center-Winston Salem, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston Salem, NC 27103.
