Cecil G. Wetherholt, 74, of 1008 Windsor Avenue, went home to be with his Lord on March 11, 2010. Cecil was born August 20, 1935 in Martha, West Virginia. Cecil was preceded in death by his father, William Creath Wetherholt; his mother, Cora Sanders Wetherholt; first wife and mother of their three children, Lavonna Gail Hardy Wetherholt. Cecil is survived by his wife, Doris O. Wetherholt; his son, David (Kathy) Wetherholt; two daughters, Glenda (Brad) Hinshaw and Amy Wetherholt; step-sons, Phil (Dawn) Thompson, Randy (Kay) Thompson; grandchildren, Denton and Davis Hinshaw; granddaughters, Haley and Audrey Zeman, and their father, Brian Zeman; step-grandchildren, Levi (Traci) Thompson, Cameron Phillips, Laura Phillips, Steve Hutchins, Renaee Seats; and a brother, Robert (Joy) Wetherholt. Cecil was a graduate of Huntington East High School in Huntington, WV, Fairmont State College in Fairmont, WV, and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Wor! th, TX. He has a certificate in Church Management at Babcock Graduate School of Management, Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC. He was pastor of Churches in Texas, West Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina; served as a missionary for Southern Baptists in West Virginia and as an Associational Missionary in the Brier Creek Association in Hamptonville, NC. Cecil also served a total of twenty-four years military time in the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Air Force Reserve. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Saturday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. His Funeral Service will be 3 p.m. Sunday in the Gentry Family Chapel by the Rev. Jimmy Lancaster, the Rev. Johnny Enloe, and the Rev. Eddy Driver. Burial will follow in the Charity Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors by Yadkin VFW Post 10346. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either Charity Baptist Church Building Fund, Charity Church Road, Boonville, NC 27011; Maplewood ! Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 576, Yadkinville, NC 27055; or to Mountain Valley Hospice, PO Box 1267, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
