On March 12, 2010, God called his good and faithful servant, Mrs. Rachel Hutchens Evans, 66, of US Highway 21, to her eternal home in Heaven. She was born June 16, 1943 in Yadkin County to Charlie Frank and Cora Wooten Hutchens. Rachel was retired with 30 years of service from Yadkin Valley Telephone Company. She was a faithful member of Longtown United Methodist Church where she served the church with the Newsletter, Treasurer of Cemetery Committee, Charge Treasurer, Membership Chairperson, Church Council, U.M.W., and the U.M.Y.F. She loved basket weaving and making Moravian Stars for her family and friends. Rachel lived for her family, her church, and her community. She was preceded in death by her father, Charlie Frank Hutchens; a grandson, Tyler Reavis; sister-in-law, Lynn Hutchens; and a brother-in-law, Charles Evans. Surviving are her beloved husband of 46 years, Bobby Evans, of the home; her loving daught! ers, Sharon Evans (Randy) Buelin, Yadkinville; Sheila Evans (Keith) Reavis, Hamptonville; Grandchildren, Kayla and Megan Buelin, Kinsey Reavis; her mother, Cora W. Hutchens, East Bend; 2 sisters, Ruth (Larry) Johnston, Rhonda (Benford) Davis, all of East Bend; 3 brothers, Jimmy (Linda) Hutchens, Jerry (Ann) Hutchens, Ralph Hutchens, all of East Bend; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends from 6-9 PM Monday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Her funeral service will be held 2:30 PM Tuesday at Longtown United Methodist Church by Rev. Heather Kilbourne and Rev. Andy Lambert. She will lie in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Longtown Cemetery.
