In the 1880 New Castle, Wilkes Co. I found Alven Mathis 34, Margaret Mathis 25 and Ruth Mathis 7. I also found the death certificate and his birth date says 3-16-1846 in Wilkes and died 5-18-1921. Says he is buried at Flat Rock Baptist in Yadkin. Carl Hoots does not have him listed but does have Lucinda Sims Mathis.
