He was born August 10, 1927 in Davie County to the late Clarence and Annie Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers. Surviving are his wife, Pauline Goss Smith; children, Wanda (Bob) Mickles, Gary (Robin) Smith, Deborah (Dean) Spainhour; grandchildren, Brad (LuAnn) Doss, April (Michael) Mason, Cory Spainhour, Mindy Smith; great-grandchildren, Taylor and Brett Doss, Michael and MaKayla Mason; sister, Elizabeth Ann Hutchens; and several nieces, nephews and other family members. His Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2010 at Turners Creek Baptist Church by the Rev. Scott Welch and the Rev. David Maynard. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the Service on Friday at Turners Creek Baptist Church.
