He was born October 18, 1917 in Yadkin County to the late Thomas and Cora Speer Collins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Kate Holcomb Collins; children, Larry Dean Collins, Anthony Lewis Collins; sister, Nellie Ruth Collins; two brothers, Warren Collins and an infant brother. Surviving are his children, Tommy (Judy) Collins, Jimmy (Hilda) Collins; grandchildren, Terry (Teresa) Collins, Jimmy Lee Collins, Gray Junior Collins; great-grandchildren, Dustin (Rose) Collins, Kayla Collins, Cody Collins, Shallon Collins, Michael Collins, Ashley Collins; sisters, Annie Pearl Warden, Beulah Mae Warden, Mary Gray Evans, Betty Jean Cheek; brothers, Albert Bruce Collins, Thomas Ray Collins, Bobby Lee Collins, and Rev. Roger Frank (Mary Jane) Collins; and several nieces and nephews. His Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March! 3, 2010 at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville by the Rev. Nelson Puffenbarger, and the Rev. Roger Collins. Burial will follow at Deep Creek Friends Cemetery.
