Sarah was born in Topton, NC on March 11, 1922 to the late R.C. Moore and Ora Gertrude Bryson Moore. The family later moved to Young Harris, GA, where she met her future husband while he was on leave during World War II. She married Phillip "Reece" Gough on December 24, 1938 and moved to Yadkin County where his family was, and spent the entirety of their lives there. Sarah retired from Sara Lee Corporation after many years of service but continued to work part-time for Carolina Custom Draperies in Winston-Salem until 2001. She was a long-time member of Flat Rock Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir. She also loved gardening, sewing, traveling, cooking, and spending lots of time with her friends and family. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gough was preceded in death by he! r loving husband, Reece Gough; a son, Phillip R. Gough in 2008; two brothers, Franklin "Dee" Moore and Robert "Wilbur" Moore. Sarah is survived by two granddaughters, Dawn (Junior) Mahan of Roaring River, NC; Susan (Barry) Mathis of Charlotte, NC; very special grandchild, Isaiah Mathis; brothers, Clinton Moore of Young Harris, Ga; John C. "J.C." Moore of Andrews, NC; Larry M. Moore of Young Harris, Ga; several nieces, nephews, and many friends, including a special person that she considered her daughter, Kay Hobson; and Becky West, whom she cared for dearly. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. Her funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at Flat Rock Baptist Church, by Dr. Joey Tomlin. Burial will follow in the Harmony Grove Friends Church Cemetery.
