The river begins near Blowing Rock in the Blue Ridge Moutains, and flows two hundred miles where its name becomes the Peedee in South Carolina. The name Yadkin is first found in a letter from Abraham Wood dated 1674 and refers to an Indian Village called "Yattken Towne"-- Orgin of Name page 2-- Yakin County Hertitage Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
