The John Casey you mention from the 1850 census in Iredell County is my GGG Grandfather. I too seem to have hit a dead end. Family history states that John's father was also John Casey and that he migrated to NC from MD. In looking at the families that married (Windsor, Riley, and Arnold), who all migrated from MD, this would seem to be supported. However, I have found no hard evidence.
