She was born November 7, 1920 in Yadkin County to the late Isaac and Percy Shore Vanhoy. Mrs. Wilcox was a devoted mother and homemaker. She was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church, and enjoyed reading mysteries and suspense novels. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, A.G. Wilcox, her sister, Earsell Pinnix, and by her brothers, Orville Vanhoy, Vernice Vanhoy, Roy Vanhoy, and Sherrill Vanhoy. Surviving are her daughter, Nyla K. Wilcox, of Ocala, Fla and Aviano, Italy; a son, Duane (Jean) Wilcox, Shady Springs, West Virginia; a grandson, Chris Sherrill (Janet) Wilcox, Sandy Springs, West Va.; two step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Emeth V. Brawley, Hamptonville; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 24, 2010 at Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Tim Tucker! . In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to either Mountain Valley Hospice, PO Box 1267, Yadkinville, NC 27055, Mountain View Baptist Church, Mountain View Church Road, Hamptonville, NC 27020, or to one of the charities that were special to Mrs. Wilcox, and they are, Samaritans Purse, In Touch Ministries, American Cancer Society, Baptist Childrens Home, or to the Gideon International.
