Mr. Russell was born September 30, 1935 to the late Albert Blaine and Alma Gracie Hauser Russell. Mr. Russell was retired from Chatham manufacturing after 35 years of service. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Barbara Jean Smith; a brother Jerome Russell. He is survived by his wife of 53 years and 9 months Barbara C. Russell; children Denise Williams, Richard A. Russell, Jr. and wife Cynthia, Sharon Russell; grandchildren Kelisha (Deitrich) Hancock, Tamara Williams, Lamar Russell; great-grandchildren Breanna Hancock, Brittani Hancock; sisters Pauline Hauser, Kate Kimber, Verna Mae Martin, Diane Murphy, Dionne Ijames; a brother Robert (Earlene) Russell; sister-in-law Louise Russell; special friends Stephen Redmon, Stanford Williams. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. F! riday, May 7, 2010 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. His funeral will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 8, 2010 at Gentry Family Chapel by the Rev. James Moore. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church cemetery.
