He was born January 10, 1940 in Forsyth County to the late Arvil and Helen Hutchens Brown. Mr. Brown worked as a carpenter his entire life, and constructed several churches throughout the area. He was an avid gardener and loved to go fishing with his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his three sisters and a brother. Surviving are his three sons, Michael Allen (Michelle) Brown, Sparta; Randy (Portia) Brown, Mocksville; Steven Craig Brown, Boonville; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, June Gentle and Jane (Avery) Johnson, all of Yadkinville; a special friend, Donnie Allen of Mocksville; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. His funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. T! uesday, at Friendship Baptist Church by Rev. Gene Snow and Rev. Brian Chilton. He will lie in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Health and Rehabilitation Center, First Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
