She was born July 12, 1923 in Surry County to the late Arthur Taylor and Celia Taylor Coe. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roby Bunion Whitaker; brother, Thurmond Taylor, who passed away just hours after Alma; and half-sister, Pansy Coe Whitaker. Surviving are her sons, Raymond Charles (Adelaide) Whitaker, and Gary Clinton Whitaker; grandchildren, Eddie (Debbie) Sheek, Gary Sheek, Sam Whitaker; great-grandchildren, Lee Ann, Jamie, Alison, Lindsey, Hannah, Laikyn, Wesley, Harrison; and great-great-grandson, Dylan. Her Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. at Gentry Family Chapel by the Rev. Patty Choplin. Burial will follow at Mt. Herman Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, January 11, 2010 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.
