Cartwright, 84, of U.S. Highway 67, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at his home. He was born February 27, 1925 in Yadkin county to the late Pinkney and Merlie Casstevens Cartwright. Mr. Cartwright was retired with 38 years of service from Bassick-Sack Inc. of Winston-Salem. He was an active member of Boonville Baptist Church where he served the church as a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendant, and helped with Boy Scout Troop. Mr. Cartwright was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Navy. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sons, William "Bill" Cartwright and Tim Cartwright; and by two brothers, Hal Cartwright and Lawrence Cartwright. Surviving are his beloved wife of 57 years, Clara Burton Cartwright, of the home; granddaughter, Courtney Cartwright Price; great-grandson, Tanner Price; and daughter-in-law, Phyllis Gregory. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Monday at Boon! ville Baptist Church. His Funeral Service will follow the visitation at 2:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary of Boonville Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Boaz, officiating. Burial will follow in the Boonville Cemetery.
