He was born October 6, 1921 in Yadkin County to the late M.J. and Roxie Pardue Vanhoy. Mr. Vanhoy was a loving, devoted husband, father, and neighbor for the community. He enjoyed farming his entire life. Mr. Vanhoy was a veteran of World War II serving with the US Army in the European Theater. He was also a member of Yadkin VFW Post 10346. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lorene Stroud Vanhoy; and by 2 brothers. Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Donna Ray and Tony Carlton, of State Road. The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:30 PM Thursday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Jonesville. His funeral service will follow the visitation at 2:30 PM Thursday in the Gentry Family Chapel with Rev. Roger Hensley, officiating. Burial will follow in the Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery wit! h full military honors by Yadkin VFW Post 10346. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Steve Erlandson and staff of Foothills Family Medicine for all the loving care given to Mr. Vanhoy.
