He was born September 5, 1921 in Yadkin County to the late Harrison & Charity Pinnix Vestal. He was retired from Chatham Manufacturing Company. He served in the US Army during World War II and he received an Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, a Good Conduct Medal and a Victory Medal. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Natley Wood Vestal on June 13, 2001, seven brothers Harvey Vestal, Coy Vestal, Colonel Martin "Bob" Vestal, Fred Vestal, Worth Vestal, Alton Vestal, and Vertle Vestal. Surviving is a sister Pansy Nations; special friends David Stanley family, Jonathan Smith family and George Abee family. The family will receive friends from 2-3 PM Wednesday October 20, 2010 at Gentry Family Funeral service in Jonesville. His funeral will be conducted at 3:00 PM Wednesday October 20, 2010 at Gentry Family Chapel in Jonesville.
