He was born November 19, 1922 in Yadkin County to the late Roby and Gladys Wagoner Boles. Mr. Boles was a retired farmer working all of his life in tobacco, cattle, or in produce. He was a loving, devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his family. Mr. Boles enjoyed going hunting or fishing with his family and friends. He was a member of Branon Friends Meeting, attended Oak Grove Baptist Church as long as his health permitted, and was a member of Woodmen of the World. Mr. Boles served as a veteran of World War II in the U.S. Army. He was a paratrooper and received a purple heart for his service and injuries sustained in Germany. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Imogene Hemric Boles; a sister, Pauline Long; and two nephews, Dickie Long and Randy Long. Surviving are his daughter, Sharon Boles Du! pree, Thurmond; Reginald Gray "Reggie" Boles, Jr., Hamptonville; grandchildren, Ryan Boles, Kristin Boles, Tara Boles, Monty (Melissa) Chipman, Shanda (Roger) Gentry; great-grandchildren, Kayla Chipman, Cole Chipman, Bryce Vestal, Briggs Gentry; brothers, Roger (the late Joan) Boles, High Point, Gerald "Jerry" (Billie) Boles, Winston-Salem; three nieces; and two nephews. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. His Funeral Service will be 3 p.m. Sunday in the Gentry Family Chapel by the Rev. Larry Lefler, with special singing by Betty Lefler. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors by Yadkin VFW Post 10346. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Yadkin VFW Post 10346, Sloans Mill Road, Hamptonville, NC 27020. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dee Dee Stout, Krista Shelton, Brenda Kimmer, Judy Simpson, and Yadkin Senior Services for a! ll the loving care and support given to Mr. Boles during his time of s ickness.
