She was born March 12, 1944 in Yadkin County to the late Ray Junior and Dorothy Crabb Collins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Monroe Childress. Surviving are her children, Becky (Barry) Fischer of Sedro Woolley, WA, Karen (Neil) Patel of Salisbury, Randy (Crystal) Childress of Ronda; grandchildren, Travis Fischer, Emilee Fischer, Lindsey Fischer, Max Patel, Anna Patel, Richie Childress, Timothy Childress; brother, Donald Ray (Jeannie) Collins; sister, Norma Jean (Don) Poindexter; special friend, Kay Vanhoy; several nieces and nephews. Her funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Monday, September 20, 2010 at Bible Baptist Church by the Rev. Dwayne Lankford. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Monday, prior to the service at Bible Baptist Church. Memorial can be made to Bible !
