Born April 12, 1927 in Yadkin County, NC. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-three years, Virginia D. Brown; son, Hubert Ray Brown; son-in-law, Ralph E. Richardson; parents, Floyd E. and Mamie Hudspeth Brown; and brother, F. Clayton Brown. Surviving family includes daughter, Gloria B. Richardson of Rock Hill, SC; daughter, and son-in-law, Kay B. and Wesley (Terry) Moorefield of Seattle, WA; seven grandchildren: Bill R. Richardson, Stacy Richardson Owens, Michael R. Richardson, K. Scott Moorefield, Kristen Moorefield, Bradley R. Richardson, and Heather B. Royal; six great-grandchildren, Will and Riley Richardson, Elexa, Nick, and Jack Owens, Hannah Royal; brother, Kelly E. Brown of Arart, VA. Mr. Brown was the retired owner of Brown Plumbing Company for over forty years. He was a trustee and deacon at Pleasant View Baptist Church until his health failed. He was a Marin! e in the First Division from 1944-1946 having served in Okinawa and China. The family wishes to express their special thanks to Marlene Clifton, Susan, Tiffany, and Hona Diehl, for their dedicated and loving care for Mr. Brown. A Funeral Service, celebrating his life will be conducted on Saturday (today) at 7 p.m. at the Pleasant View Baptist Church, 1206 Pleasant View Drive, Winston-Salem, NC (336-767-4880). David Harmon and Jeff Dowell will officiate. The Family will visit with their friends this evening from 6 p.m. until Service time at the Church. A Graveside Funeral Service with Marine Military Honors will be conducted on Sunday, September 12 at 1 p.m. at the Crestview Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements are under the care of the Vogler Funeral Home Reynolda Chapel (336-722-6106). Online condolences may be made to frankvoglerandsons.com.
