She was born in Yadkin County to Marian Alonzo and Stella Taylor Brown on February 27, 1929. Lorene retired from Western Electric (AT&T) after 30 years of service. She was a member or Warners Chapel Church of Christ where she was affectionately known as " The Card Lady". She enjoyed many church activities, especially sewing for mission work. Her survivors include one sister, Johnsie Thompson; one son, Rodney Brown and daughter in law, Teresa; one grandson, Hunter and a host of nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted Sunday, September 12, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. at Warners Chapel Church of Christ with Minister Frank Shepard and Minister Paul Kirkpatrick officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
