The son of Julius and Mina Hinshaw, Jim was a loving husband, devoted brother, generous father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Jim spent most of his life in the Atlanta area where he was a highly respected leader. He was a talented and accomplished businessman, entrepreneur, and mentor. He was passionate about his beloved Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves. He was a dedicated member of Rotary International and held many leadership positions including District Governor receiving the Distinguished Service Award and Meritorious Service Award. He served as chairman of the Board of Directors of the Gwinett Hospital System as well as numerous other civic organizations. During World War II, he served honorably as an ensign in the U.S Navy. Mr. Hinshaw is survived by his wife of 41 years, Faye Hinshaw of the home; his brother, Carl Hinshaw; his sister, Edith Hinsh! aw Alldred of Winston-Salem; son Jim Hinshaw, Jr and wife Laurie of Buford, GA; daughter Susan Diane Hinshaw and husband Ken from Monticello, GA, three grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his sister, grace Lee Hinshaw Brown. He leaves a family secure in the Promise of Eternal Life through Christ, our Savior. The Funeral Services will be held at Salem Funeral Home Chapel, 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 23. The family will receive friends at Salem Funeral Home at 12:30 to 2:00, prior to the service. There will be a private interment following the chapel service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to: First Moravian Church, 4950 Hough Howell Rd., Stone Mountain, GA 30087 or Gwinnett Children's Shelter, P.O Box 527, Buford, G.A 30515. He was the son of James Henry Asbury Hinshaw b.9 4 1861 died 8 11 1915 and Wilmoth Lousie Jane Cartwright. James was the son of Joseph Hinshaw b.12 19 1985 died 9 6 1906 and Lucinda Dobbins. Joseph was the son of John Hinshaw b. 1801 died 1885 and Hannah Carter. John was the son of Jonathan Hinshaw b. abt 1774-1859 and Anna McDaniel. Jim's mother was Mina Jane Collins b.3 14 1902 died 9 30 1959 she was the daughter of David Sanders Collins b. abt 1889 died 7 17 1926 and India Ann Swaim. David was the son of Davis D. Collins b. 1835 died 7 14 1912 and Nancy Jane Smith. David D. Collins was the son of Hiram Collins b 1802-1879 and Phebe Tucker.
