Lee Avenue, Yadkinville, died Saturday, February 6, 2010, at his residence. He was the son of the late, Eli James Billings, Sr, and Cora Whitehead Billings. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ramona Roupe Billings; brothers, Daniel C. and Dock M. Billings; sisters, Mattie Walker and Alma Jordan, and step-brother, P.K. Jordan. Bert was a retired mechanic for Roadway Trucking. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Alan Pilcher of East Bend, Tina and Ben Bolton of Winston-Salem; a son, Stephen Billings of Yadkinville; five grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Kathy Billings of Ennice; one half-brother and wife, Junior and Mildred Billings of Elkin; two half-sisters, Reba Wyatt of Glade Valley, Doris Dotson and her husband, Willie, of Glade Valley; step-brothers and spouses, Rufus and Notrie Jordan of Bel Air, MD, Elder Kyle and Judy Jordan of Ennice; and several nieces and nephews! also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, February 12, at the Grandview Memorial Chapel in Sparta. Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery at Whitehead. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the Grandview Memorial Funeral Home in Sparta. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
