She was born October 5, 1941 in Yadkin County to Ralph Monroe and Edith Davis Carter. Bonnie was a faithful, life-long member of Mt. Carmel Friends Meeting where she served for many years as the Church Treasurer. She was a loving neighbor to everyone in the community. She worked at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company as the Lead Unit Clerk until her first child was born. She then worked for the Yadkin County School System, as a Bus Driver and Substitute Teacher, and especially enjoyed the 9 years she worked with the A.D.A.P. Program in Boonville. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker for her family. She enjoyed cooking, providing for each of them, and occasionally taking breaks to out-fish her husband. Bonnie was preceded in death by her father; and by an infant sister, Nora Ja! n Carter. Surviving are her beloved husband of 50 years and 8 months, James L. "Jimmy" Brown, of the home; her three children: Jill (Chuck) Crews, East Bend; Jason (Angie) Brown, Elkin; Jan (Chris) Vogts, East Bend; eight grandchildren: Jacob and Samuel Crews; Isaac Carter, Elijah, AnaJayde and RachelJordyn Brown; Taran and Eily Vogts; her mother, Edith Davis Carter of East Bend; sisters, Abigail (Howard) Williams, East Bend, Wilda (Bobby) Lucas, Garner, Dena (Stanley) Todd, Yadkinville; and all the nieces, nephews, and extended family members, whom she especially loved. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. A Graveside Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Mt. Carmel Friends Meeting Cemetery by the Rev. Jeff Farmer, the Rev. Archie Creed and the Rev. Chris Vogts. The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff of the 9th floor Oncology Department of Forsyth Medical Center for all the lov! ing care given to Bonnie during her stay. In lieu of flowers, memorial s may be made in memory of Bonnie Brown to Mt. Carmel Friends Meeting, Mt. Carmel Church Road, East Bend, NC 27018.
