He was born March 23, 1933 in Yadkin County to the late Ferd and Mattie Brown Cheek. He was an avid fan of West Yadkin and Starmount High School sports. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Garner; and brother, Herbert Cheek. Surviving are his wife, Eugenia Wishon Cheek; daughters, Gina (David) Painter, Tina (Kenny) Gooden; grandchildren, Travis Painter, Hannah (Marty) Andrews, Hunter Gooden; brother, Bill (Carol) Cheek; and several nieces and nephews. His Funeral Service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at Gentry Family Chapel in Yadkinville by the Rev. Kenny Gooden. The family will receive friends following the service at Gentry Family Funeral Service. A private Graveside Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Union Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 2401 Nebo Road, Yadkinville, NC 27055 or ! West Yadkin Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, Hamptonville, NC 27020.
