Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born September 27, 1926, in Yadkin County to Willie Gray and Lindy Russell Spear. Mr. Spear was in the car business for over 60 years, traveling to northern New Jersey, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey. He was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church for over 60 years and faithfully served as an usher. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, NASCAR Racing, and camping at Buffalo Camp in Blowing Rock. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 52 years, Earlene Zimmerman Spear; sisters, Flora, Nettie and Mary; brothers, Avery, Tom, Arzy, Willie and Eugene. Surviving are two daughters, Diana Segraves and husband Rodney of Raleigh, Ginger Petrick and husband Jim of Lexington; a son, Allen Spear and wife Jeanette of Germanton; one brother, Alton Spear of Winston-Salem; six grandchildren, Kimberly Ammons and husband Brook, M! egan Hackleman and husband Glenn, Zachary Segraves, Douglas Segraves, Amanda Petrick and Nathaniel Petrick; a very special lady, Virginia Whitman of Tobaccoville. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at Mineral Springs Baptist Church, with Dr. Gus Thomas and Dr. Cecil Cave officiating. Entombment will follow at Gardens of Memory Mausoleum in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to Mineral Springs Baptist Church, 3733 Ogburn Ave, Winston-Salem, NC 27105 or to Hospice and Palliative Care, 101 Hospice Lane,Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
