He was born February 15, 1936 in Yadkin County to the late Theodore and Gladys Childress Parker. Sherrill was a member of Charity Baptist Church. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time farming. He was a member of the Yadkin Masonic Lodge #162 A.F. and A.M. He retired from R.J. Reynolds. Surviving are his wife, Joyce Hancock Parker; daughter, Lisa (John) Eldridge; grandchildren, Jacob Allen, Morgan Eldridge; great-grandchildren: Lawsyn Allen, Caden Allen; and sisters-in-law, Ruby Hardy, June (L.G.) Nance, Judy Hancock. His Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Charity Baptist Church by the Rev. Eddy Driver. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery. He will lie in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. In lieu of flowers, m! emorials can be made to Charity Baptist Church Building Fund, 1500 Charity Church Road, Boonville, NC 27011 or Mountain Valley Hospice, 208 North Jackson Street, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
