Thomas L. Reece of Winston Salem, died on Monday, June 28, 2010. Born March 17, 1923, he was the son of Rev. D. G. Reece and Lela Davis Reece of Jonesville, NC.. Surviving family members are his wife, Mary Frances Apperson Reece, two daughters, Amy Kathryn Robinson of Greensboro, NC and Moss Elyn Rhys of Paradise, California; four granddaughters Kathryn Elizabeth Robinson of Greensboro, Mary Tye, Megan Tye, and Emily Tye Hosford, all of California; three Hosford great grandchildren also of California; one sister, Sara Reece Miller of Elkin, NC, also two special friends June and Dent Miller of Statesville, NC. Rev. Reece was a graduate of Mars Hill College, Wake Forest College and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary where he received the Master of Divinity degree. His ministry included Associate Professor of Bible, Gardner Webb College, pastor of Bethel Baptist Church Statesville, NC, pastor of Gorman Baptist Church , Durham, NC Tabernacle Baptist C! hurch, Roanoke, VA and pastor of Front Street Baptist Church, Statesville, NC. Subsequent to his pastoral career, Rev. Reece was employed by the state of North Carolina in various positions in Mental Health and Substance Abuse. His last job was Director of the Walter B. Jones Substance Abuse Treatment Center in Greenville, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, Elkin, NC 28621. A graveside service will be held at the Hollywood Cemetery in Elkin, NC on Saturday July 3, at 10:30 a.m., and the family will receive friends at the Church House, of the First Baptist Church, following the service.
