He was born May 30, 1921 in Yadkin County to the late Harvey Fredrick and Ina Bell Shore Brooks. Mr. Brooks was a retired truck driver, and loved playing Bluegrass Music. He was also a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Janette Nichols Brooks, of the home; four children, Larry F. (Jessie) Brooks, Beth (Larry) Gardner, all of Hamptonville; Ben (Lisa) Brooks, Dobson; Phil (Cheryl) Brooks, East Bend; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Freda Casey; and his brother, Lawrence Brooks. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. His funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, at Mountain View Baptist Church, by Rev. Tim Tucker and David Johnson. Music will be provided by Dixie Dawn Band. He will lie in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial ! will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, PO Box 1267, Yadkinville, NC 27055.
