He was born October 11, 1962 in Surry County to Cloyce and Louise M. Chappell. Mr. Chappell was a member of Swaims Baptist Church. He was a proud member of the N.R.A. who loved the outdoors by spending time either hunting, fishing, and doing taxidermy work. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John and Bertha Chappell and his maternal grandmother, Naomi M. Mathis. Surviving are his loving wife, Amy Hawkins Chappell, of the home; his beloved daughter, Iris Naomi Chappell; his parents, Cloyce and Louise M. Chappell, Jonesville; aunts, Carol Parks, Edwina Shore, both of Hamptonville; uncles, Cecil (Bonnie) Chappell, Hamptonville and Jimmie Mathis of Winston-Salem. A memorial service for Mr. Chappell will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 16, 2010 at Swaims Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jerry Shelton, Pastor Joey ! Moore of Boiling Springs Baptist Church, and Rev. Roger Groce officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Fellowship Hall of Swaims Baptist Church.
