Mr. Martin was formerly employed by Chatham Manufacturing as supervisor of the sample room and retired as a tool and die maker from AMP Incorporated. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army and former Jonesville town councilman. He was born in Wilkes County to Harvey and Jettie Adams Martin on July 17th, 1928. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Doris; and great grandson, Oliver Mastin. He is survived by his beloved wife, Alma Slawter Martin of the home; brother, Ralph (Nancy) Martin of Clemmons; sister, Maybert Tuell of Jonesville; daughters, Pam (Grant) Mastin of Deep Gap and Cathy (Jody) Chamberlain of Jonesville; grandchildren, Neil (Rebekka) Mastin of Raleigh, Amanda (Philip) Hensley of Baltimore, Miss Abby Chamberlain; two great-grandchildren, Penny and Isaak Mastin; five nieces, and nephews and their families. The family will receive friends and fa! mily members from 1 to 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, January 12, at Johnson Funeral Home located at 615 West Main Street in Elkin, NC. A Funeral Service will be held at 3 p.m. at the funeral home, followed by a Graveside Service at Sunrise Cemetery in Jonesville and a fellowship meal at the Jonesville Church of God Fellowship Hall located across from the Church on Mineral Springs Drive. Rev. Ken Nelson will officiate both services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to either Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care at 688 North Bridge Street, Elkin, NC 28621 or to the American Cancer Society on-line at www.cancer.org, by phone at 1-800-227-2345 or by mail to P.O.
