Mr. Choplin was born Oct. 17, 1911, in Yadkin County to the late John Wesley and Amelia Blakely Choplin. He was the owner and operator of Choplin' s Grocery & Shell Station on Reynolda Road for 23 years. After retiring, he worked for College Village Supermarket for a few years. He was a member of Bethabara Moravian Church and had been a volunteer for 11 years at the Moravian Home (now Salemtowne). Mr. Choplin enjoyed playing the harmonica, banjo and guitar. He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 68 years, Marie Thacker Choplin; and brothers Charlie, Howard, Hubert and J.W. Choplin. "Papa John," as he was known, loved everyone and was loved by all who knew him. He raised a fine garden for many years and shared it with his community. He faithfully served his Lord, worked hard as a farmer and loved his family and friends with all his heart. He was preceded in death by his parents, I.C. and Fannie Brown Collins; three brothers, Andrew Collins, Farris Collins and Ray Collins; a sister, Cora Lee Smith; a granddaughter, Sharon Holyfield; and two great-grandchildren, Sara Elisabeth Bunke and Philip Jared Bunke. He lived 80 years. He was born May 20, 1927, in Yadkin County to William Chester "Dulin" Williams and Connie. They were loving parents and preceded him in death. Pell is survived by his wife of 54 years, Norma Coe Williams of the home. Their children are Billy Williams (Debbie), Betty Cain (Sheriff Mike) and Darrell Williams (Denise). He was preceded in death by son Timmie Williams; and infant son Mark Williams. He had five grandchildren, Franklin Williams (Jessica), Heather Cain Shew (Justin), Sarah Williams, Mindy Williams and Marcus Williams. Great-grandchildren are Taylor Williams, Caleb Shew and Jacob Cook. His sister is Nell Johnson of Yadkinville; and nieces are Debbie Wilkins (Ronnie), Regina Styers and Terry Johnson (Donna). He was fond of a special friend of the family, Pam Alspaugh; and loved his dog, Winston. For many years his career was loader and dump truck work and then logging. Pell loved spendi! ng time in nature, watching the sunrise and the birds at his bird feeder. He loved to sit and watch little rabbits play, his goats jump and deer run across the fields. He was special to his family and taught them to take care of God' s creatures. He will always be remembered as a loving and devoted son, husband, father and friend. Mr. Vestal graduated from Parkland High School in 1987 and coached the Walkertown Wolfpack Cheerleaders.
