My husband's mother was Ruby J. Shore, wife of William O. "Tom" Casstevens. I have traced the Shore line (they lived in the western part of Yadkin County) back to Henry Shore, b. ca 1795 and wife Rachel Parsons, b. ca 1801. Their son, David Shore, b. Mar. 16, 1839, d. Feb. 2, 1884 in Yadkin County, married Margaret Anm Huff (6-4-1838-1-13-1911). They were the parents of Aquilla Glenn Snore (8-6-1874 to 10-28-1948), who married Dora Octavia Casstevens (1-26-1882-4-3-1949), the parents of the above mentioned Ruby Jemima Shore.     3. The Forsyth County Genealogical Society will hold its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, June 11 at 7 pm in the Forsyth County Main Library Auditorium. The program speaker will be Andrew Mackie (President of Yadkin Valley Historical Association) on "Statesville Conference on Genealogy and the Mission of the YVHA". Refreshments at 6:30 pm. Mr. Main was born July 20, 1910, in Watauga County, a son of the late General Washington and Alemdia Potter Main. He was the retired owner of Main Grocery in Tamerack. Mr. Main helped to build Watauga Lake in Butler, Tenn., and also hauled bean pickers to Mountain City. He worked for Tom Miller at Cardinal Rest home for 23 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Ellison Main; two sons, David Main Jr. and Dana Main; three daughters, Gwyndola Main, Sylva Jean Main and Darlene Main; a son-in-law, Jack Parson; three brothers, Frank, George and Clarence Main; three sisters, Bertie Potter, Ola Miller and Ellie Lawrence, and a granddaughter-in-law, Kathleen Main. Rachel was born in Yadkin County to Tommy Stimpson and Iva Stimpson. She moved to Greensboro after her marriage in 1950. She spent many years helping to shape and mold young lives. She taught preschool children in Sunday school classes at College Park Baptist Church for over 30 years. She taught at Mount Pisgah Weekday School and Hester' s Creative School on Pinedale Road. She loved children but her passion was her family. She was always very proud of her sons and her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life, Fred W. Scott, in April 2003. They were married for over 52 years. Since his death, she has been lost in this world. Now she is at peace in God' s Kingdom with Fred. Rachel is survived by her sons, Ronald Scott and wife Angie of Greensboro and Harold Scott and wife Kay of Summerfield. She is also survived by her! grandchildren, Chris Scott, Emily Scott and Mindy Scott. She is also survived by her sister, Gail Spencer of Winston-Salem. She will also be missed by a large family that includes sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, at College Park Baptist Church, 1601 Walker Ave., with the Rev. Michael Usey officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park. The visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today, May 12, at Forbis & Dick Guilford Chapel. The family requests that memorials be made to College Park Baptist Church, 1601 Walker Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27403. He was born July 5, 1932, in Yadkin County to the late Everett and Clattie Mae Matthews Reece. Mr. Reece was a graduate of N.C. State University and was retired from Western Electric Inc. as an electrical engineer. He was a dedicated and loving husband and father to his family. During his wife' s battle with leukemia, he was faithful in his care for her. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his much loved wife, Bettye Redding Reece; and a sister, Rebecca R. Hill. Surviving are his loving daughter, Amy Reece of Boonville; stepdaughter Debra Simons of Asheville; stepgrandchildren Ali McGhee and Barclay McGhee; dedicated family friend Roberto Webber; two brothers, Steve Reece of Tennessee and Neal Reece of Raleigh; and his faithful dog, Beau. His memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. today, May 12, ! at Gentry Family Chapel, with the Rev. Roberto E. Henriquez officiating.
