Author: WRTill Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.northcarolina.counties.yadkin/3851.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: A fellow researcher noted that there are some inconsistencies in the information I posted. According to the censuses, John Bovender who married Rachel Brown in 1815, was born about 1794 in NC. John and Rachel had a son, CPT John Bovender, b. 1838 Surry, NC who died 4 August 1920. The Rachel Brown who was the daughter of Thomas Brown was born 4 Mar 1779, Cane Creek Mm, Orange Co, NC, thus was very unlikely to have had a child in 1838. The Rachel Brown who married the John Bovender in 1815 was born about 1795 of unknown parentage according to the family's story on page 276 of Yadkin County Heritage, Vol I. The children of John and Rachel Bovender listed in the earlier post are children of the couple noted above. I did not find census listings for the John Bovender, b. abt 1780 who is buried at the Deep Creek Friends Cemetery, but conceivably he is the individual above with an error in the birth date. John Bovender who married Rachel Brown in 1815, remarried in 1847 to Arabelle Farrington, and they had six children, the last born in 1856. So a birth date of 1780 for him is also unlikely. I'm sorry for any confusion, but genealogy isn't often a neatly fitting puzzle. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
