Born in Yadkin County, on December 12, 1935, he was the son of the late Early and Amy Logan Hutchens. Mr. Hutchens was a cabinet maker for Dixie Furniture in Lexington, NC. He was of the Quaker faith and a member of Old Siloam Friends Church. Mr. Hutchens served in the Army during the Korean conflict. He was a member of the VFW post 10346 in Yadkinville and was a past commander. Mr. Hutchens volunteered at the VA hospital in Salisbury with over 750 hours serving his fellow vets. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hutchens is preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Mr. Hutchens is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kathleen Hayes Hutchens; 2 sons, Nelson Wayne (Margaret) Hutchens of Mocksville, Nelson Eugene Hutchens of Yadkinville, four daughters, Kathy H. (James) Scarlette of Lexington, Anita D. (Greg) Sanford of Mooresville, Becky H. Ridenhour of Boonville, Vickie (! She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Vance and Ida Patterson Steele; her brother, Wiley Steele; three sisters, Sally Page, Georgia Davis, and Kathleen (Neill) Newman; and infant twin siblings John and Mayme Steele. Ms. Tuchek retired from Eckerds after 20 years as a successful cosmetic consultant. Prior to her career she lived in Minnesota and Alaska. After retirement she returned to East Bend and will be remembered for her generosity to all and her love and devotion to her animals. She enjoyed sharing fond memories of her adventures with friends and family. Surviving are cousins Boyd and Warren Patterson, Ruth Hobson, and Betty Brannock. He was born Nov. 29, 1962 in Yadkin County to James H. and Gaynelle Moxley Smith. Gary was a graduate of Starmount High School. He received an Associates Degree from Wilkes Community College and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Appalachain State University. He was co-owner in Smith Farms, a farming partnership with his Dad and brother that produces tobacco, field corn, wheat, soybeans, pumpkins, sweet corn, barley, and poultry. In 1995 Gary was selected for a US Agricultural Leadership Award, given by Philip Morris Inc. After completing the program, Gary travelled to Mexico and Brazil to learn about the international agribusiness role. He was a member of Boonville Baptist Church, NC Corn Growers Association, Yadkin Moose Lodge, the Tobacco Growers Association, helped coach his son in various sports, and was an avid tractor puller. He will be missed by his card playing buddies. Gary was ! preceded in death by his grandparents, Roscoe and Lillian Smith and Will and Ollie Moxley; his mother, Gaynelle Smith; his wife, Judy Smith; and a grandson, Elijah Swaim. She was born June 18, 1907 in Surry County, to the late Richard "Dick" and Mary Jane Simmons Chandler. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grover Cleveland Shinault; by an infant son, Paul Junior Shinault; son, Luther Shinault; grandson, Jerry Grose; a granddaughter, Linda Shinault; and three brothers; and a sister. Surviving are her children, Ruby (Fonzo "Bum") Snow, Eva (Gilbert) Grose, Chester Shinault, Barbara (Claude) Salmons, all of Yadkinville; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Her Funeral Service will be held 2 p.m. Friday in the Gentry Family Chapel by Rev. Dean Chandler. Burial will follow in the Union Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Surry County. Brown, 87, on Wednesday, November 12, 2008, he went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to be with His dear wife, Nola, relatives,and friends in Heaven. He was born April 26, 1921 in Yadkin County to the late William Daniel & Nettie Casstevens Brown. Mr. Brown was a retired Tobacco and Dairy Farmer. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Brown was a member of Swaims Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nola Campbell Brown on July 5, 2006; two sisters Dorothy Moxley, Stacie Bryant; two brothers-in-law, Kim Moxley and Kenneth Bryant. Surviving are his son, Vernon D. (Brenda) Brown, Boonville; a daughter, Janet (Steve) Choplin, Yadkinville; grandchildren, Stephanie Osborne, Amy Mason, April Miller, Darin D.
