There is a "Maud" "Tally/Talley" in household of a William and Nancy Tally/Talley family. However, this Maude is born c1895 and surely is not yours born 1904. That's a long period from 1800 to 1880. Is that a typo? Since Yadkin didn't form until 1850, then I looked for Cockerham on the 1860 Yadkin census and found a 35-year-old D.S. Cockerham listed, no place of birth shown. He is listed as a physican and living with another physican. Was your fellow a doctor? There is also a David and Nancy Cockerham and two children listed Yadkin. None of the two children are Sanford. Do you know when your Sanford moved to IA? Happy Hunting. If I'm not mistaken Yadkin Co was not formed until 1850 from Surry Co, so your Percells may have resided in Surry before moving to Tazwell Co, VA. I don't see any Percells in Surry until 1820 when a Timothy "Prussil" is listed. This is not much. Hope you have found more since your post. The one who moved to Johnson Co, TN (when?), and married there in 1852. And you say he lived on the Yadkin River, which means he may not have lived in Yadkin Co. Yadkin formed in 1850 out of Surry Co. Checking the 1850 census, I quickly saw a number of DAYs in Surry. Have you posted at Surry Co msg. board? Hope this helps with your search. Most genweb sites have at least a listing of all the cemeteries (and most often locations) in the county and many have burials also. Hoots. Thomas and Elizabeth are buried in Yadkin County in the Williams Cemetery-directions given are Liberty Township- on west side of road 1597 on hill south of creek. at least 10 unmarked graves. Also Nancy Ann Vestal Williams wife of E.D.
