He was born December 13, 1935 in Yadkin County to the late John W. and Lucy Reavis Nance. Surviving are his wife, Fayerine Parker Nance; sons, William L. "Billy" Nance of Winston-Salem, Kenneth W. Nance of Winston-Salem, Michael (Terri) Walker of Stuarts Draft, VA; daughter, Phyllis (William) Blackburn of Millers Creek; grandchildren, Justin (Jessica) Walker of Richmond, VA, Jamie Walker of Roanoke, VA, Morgan E. Nance of King; sisters, Patty (Charles) Renegar, Betty Haire, and Debbie (Larry) Childress; brother, Larry W. (Edna) Nance; one niece; and three nephews. He was a strong yet humble man who leaves a great legacy to his children and grandchildren on how to be a blessing in the lives of others. The John Casey you mention from the 1850 census in Iredell County is my GGG Grandfather. I too seem to have hit a dead end. Family history states that John's father was also John Casey and that he migrated to NC from MD. In looking at the families that married (Windsor, Riley, and Arnold), who all migrated from MD, this would seem to be supported. However, I have found no hard evidence. I would be interested in exchanging the information with you. Regards, Walt Casey Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
