Mrs. Lehman was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church, where she had been an active member of her Sunday School class and a lifelong member of the choir. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dietrich E. Lehman; her parents, Rev. R. E. Adams and his wife Lillie Della Poindexter Adams; a brother, Rev. William (Bill) Adams, and a sister, Ruth Elizabeth Adams Martin. Surviving family includes her niece, Judy Adams Hardy and her husband, Bill of Elkin; her nephew, Walter Martin and his wife Carole of Charlotte. A visitation starting at 10 a.m. and Funeral Service starting at 11 a.m., celebrating her life will be conducted on Saturday, November 6, at Mineral Springs Baptist Church, 3733 Ogburn Avenue, Winston-Salem (336-767-3716). He was born 5 1 1903 and died 11 16 1975, he is buried at Mitchell Chapel Methodist Church in Yadkin County. He was first married to Dovey Kingston who was born 2 17 1910 and died1 24 1930. He married 2nd Pauline Ruth Wagoner who was born 11 14 1915 and died 2 11 2010. I had also posted Pauline's obituary. Dolphus Swaims father was Virgil Monroe Swaim b. 9 17 1874 and died 9 11 1940. Virgil married Sarah Elizabeth Royal Nov. 24 1892 in Yadkin County. She was born 1871 and died 1945. He was born June 30, 1925 to Thomas & Bessie Caudle Casstevens. Mr. Casstevens was a graduate of Boonville High School Class of 1947 where he played football, baseball, and basketball. He retired from Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corp. with 29 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army as a surgical technician, 357th Infantry, 90th Division, in Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He received several medals: including the Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal with Two Oak Leaf Clusters, and a Good Conduct Medal. One of his Citations reads, "On 4 April, 1945 in the vicinity of Marksuhi, Germany on an open plain, his platoon was pinned down by machine gun fire and six men were wounded. T/5 Casstevens subjected himself to intensive fire, administered first aid to casualties, then returned for litter bearers, led them through sma! ll arms fire, and evacuated the wounded men. His heroic service aided materially in saving the lives of several casualties." He was a member of Pilot View Friends Meeting where he served on the Ministry and Council, as well as the House and Grounds Committees. He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 63 years, Hazel Hutchens, and also by one daughter, Renee (Andy) Williams and two grandchildren, Kayla (Kenny Bentley) and Justin Williams. They were the apple of his eye. They were so precious to him. He is also survived by one sister, Irene Sizemore Pinnix of Boonville, NC; brother, George Casstevens & wife Ruth of Jonesville, NC; Mitchell Casstevens & wife, Cora Lee of East Bend, NC; brother, Frank Casstevens & wife, Marylin of Advance, NC; also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m. at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville. The Funeral Service will be Friday 3 p.m. at Pilot View Friends Meeting with Reverend Nelso! n Puffenbarger and Reverend Hewey Parrish officiating. Auman, 84, a 50 year resident of Asheboro, died on Monday, October 18, 2010 at Brook-ridge Retirement Community in Winston-Salem. Rosa graduated from Yadkinville High School in the class of 1943 and attended Pfeiffer University for 2 years and graduated from Guilford College in 1947. She accepted a job with the Asheboro City School System and began teaching Bible in both elementary and junior high schools throughout the system. In the 1970's when the Bible Program was removed from public schools, Rosa received a Master's Degree in Library Science from UNC-Greensboro and became a librarian at North Asheboro Middle School. Rosa met and married Samuel Auman in 1952. Sam worked for Walker Shoe Company as a sales representative. Both Rosa and Sam were active in the First Evangelical & Reformed Church for many years. Rosa served 45 years as an educator and public servant. Her greatest impact was as a witness for Jesus Christ both in her personal and profess! ional life. In addition to her years of teaching bible in the public schools, Rosa also taught bible at Randolph Community College. She loved teaching Sunday school lessons at Harmony Grove Friends Church in Yadkinville, in the Myrtle Warden Sunday School Class. Rosa's life was the testimony of a good and faithful servant of Jesus Christ and when the Lord called her home, he said, "Job Well Done". The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, October 21, at Maple Springs United Methodist Church, 2569 Reynolda Road, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Mostly to locate and get a GPS on them, but Andrew Mackie has done most (if not all) of the private cemeteries in Yadkin so I presume he's done this one. He's very private about his work but is an excellent source for Yadkin informamtion. If you can give me directions from a given point in Yadkin (example, from Main St in Yadkinville), I'll be glad to go there to get photos and verify graves.
