    3. Also, the State of NC has a website to correlate the state maintained road number or the road name. Just go to https://apps.dot.state.nc.us/srlookup/ and enter the county, then the state road number or road name and it will give you the information. With that you can also go to Google, Maps, and enter a road name and a nearby City or county and it should bring up a map too. He remembers him as being a "big fellow." All of the cousins (Clem's siblings)were much older than him. My grandpa was the youngest in his family and his oldest sibling was Clara who was 15 years his senior and more in the age range of Clem and the rest. Anyway, he remembered hearing about Clem up and disappearing but never heard that he for sure went to Hawaii in 1923, which is what some in the family have said. What he heard was that Clem was unhappy in his marriage and with his situation. He may have been thinking about a divorce but his father, Phillip, basically said, "You made your bed, now lie in it." Grandpa thought that Clem probably just up and left his family and never contacted any of them again. His uncle Phil (Clem's father) always felt responsible for his leaving and may have satisfied himself by saying that he thought Clem was on a n! avy destroyer that went down because there was a Holcomb on board, and no bodies were ever recovered and it was never proven. Clems wife later remarried a Roy Maupin (possibly in California) and they had a daughter named Carroll. This gives possibly some areas to search further into, especially a destroyer going down with a Holcomb on board. You never know! Do you have any family photos by any chance? I have other little tidbits of info from grandpa in relation to Clem's sisters, if you are interested. 3. Yes, Old US 421 is also SR 1605. Also, State Road 1601 is also known as Bruce Road. To get to Bruce Road, go east on Old US 421 about 4 - 5 miles and turn left on Baltimore Road. Then follow it about 3 or 4 miles and Bruce Road will be on the left a couple of hundred yards before you get to Forbush Road. Author: pampearson1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.northcarolina.counties.yadkin/4578/mb.ashx Message Board Post: In 2008 I made a stop in Yadkin Co and drove east from the library to the Forbush Baptist Church. I think I was on SR-1605. Is this the same road that is called Old 421 East? One of the librarians I was talking to mentioned that the farm with the large white house across the road (not directly across from the church, but close) was originally owned by a Davis family. Does anyone know which Davis family it belonged to? Finally, where is SR-1601 in Forbush Township located? According the the Yadkin Co cemetery book, SR-1601 goes toward the Bruce Cemetery, which has just two headstones - one for EMA Lakey Bruce and one for David J. Davis. I don't know if "Bruce" is the official name of the cemetery or just one given to it by the author of the book. I'm exploring the possibility that this might actually be the Davis Graveyard I asked about a few months back. Figuring out where it is located would be very helpful.
