To all Barnes of WIlson CO, NC Recently I came across a single, heavily overgrown cemetery marker that may not be in any of the Wilson Co. cemetery records. This is NOT part of my family line, but I hope that someone can use it. If it was of value, I would appreciate hearing from you at [email protected] (Johnston Co, NC). Hwy 42 East, approx 8/10ths mile into Wilson County from Johnston Co., approx 2/10ths mile past intersection of SR 1122, North Side of Hwy 42, approx. 50 feet in an open field (at least in December of 1998). Harriet Ann Barnes Born July 5, 1839 Died Aug 13, 1883. I believe that this is the same Harriet Barnes listed in Wilson Co., Black Creek District, #047, home of : Bunyan Barnes 50 Rody Barnes 45 Harriet 21 Louisa 18 Penelope 15 Columbus 16 Jonathan 8 (occurs later in this text) Willie Jackson 8 Harriet also occurs in the home of Ellas Barnes, 1870, Spring Hill, Wilson Co, #117: Ellas Barnes 34 Harriet Barnes 32 Roxana 6 Rhosco 1 1870 Black Creek, #246: Rosa Barnes 56 (Rody Barnes of 1860?) John Barnes 19 (Jonathan of 1860?) Rebecca Evans 34 Louisa Evans 27 (Louisa Barnes of 1860?) Penelope Evans 25 (Penelope Barnes of 1860?) Juneus Evans 7 Alice Evans 9 This info is from the 1860 and 1870 Census Abstracts of Joan L. Howell, 1993. I have not checked the original census records, nor have I checked the 1850 or 1880 Census. Please verify any of this information with the original Census records before accepting any of it as fact. For some reason, many of the family seem to have changed ??? names (Louisa and Penelope), and I have no indication of relationship of Harriet Barnes to Ellas Barnes (may be a brother, and the children may be his) Ellas Barnes is listed in Ag schedules of the period, and there are more Barnes in the area.
