Henry, Is there a problem with Rootsweb? Since I've been subscribed to this list, I've always wondered why there is this list in addition to the NCWILSON list at Rootsweb. I don't understand what you mean about "an individual purporting to represent a county". Have I missed something somewhere? I'd also like to ask why the Wilson County Genweb site does not have a place to post wills, deeds, queries, bible records, cemetery records, etc. I've seen a lot of other county sites in NC and other states that have incorporated these on their pages successfully. It's a great way to trade information. As far as "Their main interest was mostly in the donations and grants they receive from list owners", Rootsweb is a non-profit organization if I'm not mistaken. If they are to continue to provide what I think is an excellent service to genealogists, they should be concerned about donations. Isn't the Wilson County Genealogical Society, as a non-profit organization, concerned about its dues and the money received from the sale of its publications? Frankly I don't have a clue what is going on as the number of queries has continued to come in at a good rate. I am asking Horace Peele, the group "master" to look into the possibility that there might be a block somewhere that is keeping information from reaching all members. When Sue and I were in Richmond at the NGS conference I had a chat with the Rootsweb folks about allowing a site to be issued to an individual purporting to represent a county. They seemed indifferent to the questions and didn't seem to care. Their main interest was mostly in the donations and grants they receive from list owners. Strange bunch. Shapeless clothing, unkempt hair, but no love beads or funny pipes on strings around their necks. Deja vu .. the 60's with a difference. I came away with the impression that they really didn't care about genealogy or anything else except their own welfare. So much for Rootsweb. Keep hanging in there. We'll get to the "root" of this problem somehow. Henry
