    3. >The RUFFIN bridge is my main interest. It sounds like it was located right >at the point of where Wilson, Wayne and Greene Counties meet. It states >"from said Ruffin's bridge down Contentnea creek to the Greene County line: > >Can anyone help me with this location? I do hope that someone can help Virginia with this location. I rather suspect this Hooks family is Monk Moore's line. Unfortunately he isn't online. According to THE HISTORY OF STANTONSBURG by Stantonsburg Historical Society, the Ruffin's Bridge, located on Hwy 58 was named for Etheldred (Dred) Ruffin who lived near the bridge. It is also known as Peacock's Bridge for Col. John Peacock, a Rev. War Hero. A plaque on the bridge reads "Ruffin Bridge, Wilson-Greene Co, Project 29.60--1940.
