    3. Barbara, Do you know anything about the Mikel family ? I have a William Mikel born about 1802 VA married a Nancy Riddle b 1816 Wilkes. They were living in Johnson's District near the Ashe line. I was wondering if Mikel was also Mitchel and had a possible name change through misspelling Thanks Jodi --- Barbara Shirley Rogerson <[email protected]> wrote: > Hi, Paul. I have a Vergie D. 3. Jodi, I don't have any Riddles or Mikels listed in my tree. All of the Mikeal/Michael researchers that I have talked to agree that the spelling depended on how the census taker thought it was spelled. Most times, especially in the early days of the census, names were spelled according to how they sounded. Sorry I couldn't help. :-( Jodi Friedman <[email protected]> wrote: Barbara, Do you know anything about the Mikel family ?
