The only discrepancy we have are the dates of Hillaire Rousseau III, but I will admit that I have not accessed the Wilkes County probate records for his estate/intestate, so I could be wrong about 1824. I discovered that date in more than one old writings. Do you have any source documentation for the 1829 date? I'd hate to bury the old gentleman five years before he died! I'm a writer of S.C. history and am doing a pro bono project for a publication on the subject of the Herndons from Va. to N.C., and on to S.C., and Hillaire Rousseau, III, plays a major role in the mix. The identity of Elizabeth (White) Herndon Rousseau seems to have been lost to history. I'm confident that I know the identity of her parents, but have found nothing to document it. I have found strong circumstantial evidence, but no proof. Cordially, Bob Stevens Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
