My 4th ggrandparents are Samuel and Dicy ( maiden unk) Riddle. Samuel b. 1822 and Dicy b. 1823 in Wilkes ( per the LDS library and census ) Samuel and Dicy's parents are not listed on birth record so I am stuck. Their Daughter Mary Riddle ( my 3rd great ) b. 1852 in Wilkes. I wonder if your Samuel Riddle Wheeler is connected through this family. ------------------------------ Message: 3 Date: Mon, 01 Jan 2007 15:40:21 -0000 From: "gc-gateway@rootsweb.com" <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> Subject: Re: [NCWILKES] Underwood Family To: <NCWILKES-L@rootsweb.com> Message-ID: <1167666022.11869@rootsweb.com> Content-Type: text/plain; This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. He is in Surry in 1850 and Back in Wilkes in 1860. Cant find him again after that. ------------------------------ Message: 4 Date: Mon, 1 Jan 2007 11:57:20 EST From: Sowhatifidid2@aol.com Subject: [NCWILKES] Death notice??? To: NCWILKES-L@rootsweb.com Message-ID: <bc1.916a673.32ca9770@aol.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" My g-g-g-g grandfather was Adam Jacob Staley. According to local stories, he died by drowning in the Yadkin/Reddies River in May 1812. I have not been able to find a death record or anything to corroborate this. Is there still a newspaper on microfiche maybe that may have announced his death. His wife, Eve, divorced him 1803 (one of the few divorces ever granted) and took all the property that he lived on with her. I don't know if he continued to live in Wilkes after the divorce but he is said to have remarried but possibly not in Wilkes. I am fairly certain of his death information because of the various people I received the exact same info from. Is there any way to validate this info???? What records are still left that would help? Thanks, Jimmie Staley ------------------------------ Message: 5 Date: Mon, 01 Jan 2007 21:19:40 -0000 From: "gc-gateway@rootsweb.com" <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> Subject: Re: [NCWILKES] Underwood Family To: <NCWILKES-L@rootsweb.com> Message-ID: <1167686381.17011@rootsweb.com> Content-Type: text/plain; This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. I am still concentrated on Surry/sussex Co. VA. for my Lewis. I have not been able to connect to the Wilkes co. NC Underwood's, It would be ral interesting if we had a male descendant of that line that would be interested in doing a DNA test. that would confirm if our lines are connected.
