My grandfather was William McCoy and his daughter, Nancy America my mother. Aunt Hattie was sent to Texas in the early 1900 to help the John McCoy out when sickness occurred. She married Charlie Carpenter while there, had two children, then divorced and she returned to the William McCoy homeplace in Ashe Co. N.C. I go there frequently and have some acreage owned by the family. Hiram and wife Caroline are buried in a distant area. William, sister America, and Charlie McCoy are buried in a family cemetery on original McCoy land. Mary K Rice
