    3. Hello folks - I am trying to find out more about one William Gambrel, of Wilkes county (Anson) who died of war wounds in 1779. I don't know how long he lived with injuries, before he died in 1779. Would there be a record of his death somewhere? (being a soldier?) Would he have been fighting in the Revolutionary war? (1776 - ?) Also, does anyone know if soldiers in the Revolutionary War were able to get "bounty land", and would or could this have been land in SC? And since he died in 1779, would his wife and children have been able to get the bounty land? William Gambrel was married to Mary Wash, and in the 1800 census of SC there is a Mary Gambrel with children, but no husband. I am wondering if she could have moved to SC from Wilkes in NC. Would appreciate any information on this. Thank you! Muriel Gambrel
