    2. Barbara, that is very true, also. Nita In a message dated 1/6/2007 10:54:14 A.M. We have a huge conundrum regarding the Coleman connection to the Stubblefield family who were in the Wilkes Co., NC area before 1790. I believe Coleman was a surname, but like you, we haven't been able to get a direct connection. The given name "Coleman" was used in the Stubblefield family of Randolph Co., AR, and the Fielding McDaniel family of Lincoln Co., TN at the same time period. It is accepted by the ancestors that Wm. Stubblefield married Elizabeth McDaniel, probably in NC, prior to 1790. They named sons, Coleman and Fielding. The McDaniel family in Lincoln Co., TN, also used those names. Must be a connection between these two families but we have not been able to pin that down. I have seen evidence of surname - Coleman - in early to mid 1700's in VA and Fielding ,also, but cannot connect to our Wm. Stubblefield or Elizabeth McDaniel. Perhaps some day this will all be clear. Thanks again for your reply. Nita In a message dated 1/5/2007 10:22:41 P.M. Central Standard Time, RGSELAMB@aol.com writes: In a message dated 1/5/2007 8:15:25 P.M. It seems likely that his mother's surname would've been Coleman and that he, most likely, was not a firstborn son. However, over the years, I've not found a Ferguson/Coleman connection in the right time frame either. Maybe, there are some Coleman's out there who would know more.....hopefully....some day. Thank you for thinking for me. Sandra -------------------------------
