Hi, I noticed your remark about the Fergusons in Wilkes Co. NC. You sound as though you've researched the Ferguson there. I've searched for my Coleman Ferguson in Wilkes Co. for about 30 years without any luck or any connection to any Ferguson there at the time. He was bc 1783 VA, married Mary (Polly) Proffitt in Wilkes Co. NC 1811, and was on the tax list from there in 1814 as a defaultor. He next appeared in GA marrying another lady in 1825. I have everything else on him until he died August 1864 Cherokee Co. GA. There is so much misinformation on the internet about him, but I thought I'd contact you to see if you had any leads or info....even a suspicion. Sandra, I looked in my Wilkes Co. Marriages of North Carolina and couldn't find your Coleman Ferguson at first. Surprise! He is spelled even differently than the others! Forguson, Coleman & Polly Prophett, 3 Nov 1811; David Roussau, bm You mentioned that the other Fergusons didn't seem to connect. For what its worth, there are two others in the marriage record that spell it the same way as Coleman. Forguson, William & Sary Dula, 1 Nov 1814; Jno Dula, bm Forguson, Thomas & Eliza Dula, 13, Oct 1829, Benj. W. Cass, bm Mary Ann P.S. I did doublecheck for typos this time! ;-). Both William and Thomas married Dula brides.
