The Wilkes County Court Minutes on Thursday 8 December 1780 say that Charles Crenshaw was appointed commissioner for the County of Wilkes for carrying out an act of the General Assembly in the state for levying a specific Provision Tax on all the inhabitants of the state for the support of the Army and the Navy of the state and the United States into the southern departments. My question is, does anyone know where I can find a list of who paid this Provision Tax in Wilkes County in 1780? Thanks for any help. Kay Torpey
