His name was John Avery Brooks and he lived in the Shepherd's Crossroad/Lomax portion of eastern Wilkes County. He married Mary Waddel in the early 1900s and died around 1929. He was an employee of the United States Postal Service and I'm inquiring there, also. If anyone has a lead on any information please let me know.
